Travel around Vancouver with Bobby

I chose to visit Vancouver because it’s a city that perfectly combines natural beauty with urban excitement. I’d heard so much about the breathtaking views, with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, making it ideal for someone who loves both city exploration and outdoor adventures. Vancouver’s diverse food scene was a big draw as well; I was excited to try everything from fresh West Coast seafood to the authentic Asian cuisine found throughout the city. I was also curious about its cultural vibe, with festivals, live music, and art galleries everywhere. With so many ways to explore nature, like hiking in Stanley Park or kayaking along the coast, I knew Vancouver would be an unforgettable experience. The friendly, laid-back vibe of the locals was just the icing on the cake!

Day 1“City of Glass” – Exploring Downtown and Gastown

Arriving in Vancouver, I could immediately feel the unique blend of city energy and nature all around. I checked into the Fairmont Waterfront, a beautiful hotel with views of the harbor and mountains that set the tone for my trip. Located in the heart of downtown, it was the perfect base for exploring the city’s highlights. After unpacking, I headed out to discover Vancouver’s bustling downtown.

My first stop was Gastown, the city’s historic neighborhood with cobblestone streets, charming shops, and the famous steam clock. This old-world charm mixed with modern cafes and boutiques gave me a taste of Vancouver’s vibe. I grabbed a quick lunch at Tacofino, a beloved food spot that started as a food truck in Tofino and now serves some of the best fish tacos in town. After a satisfying meal, I strolled along Water Street, peeking into local galleries and boutiques for a bit of shopping.

In the evening, I explored Vancouver’s nightlife with a stop at The Diamond, a cocktail bar in Gastown known for its ambiance and craft cocktails. The crowd was lively, and the drinks were top-notch—perfect for unwinding after a day of travel and exploration. By the end of the night, I was already hooked on Vancouver’s mix of heritage and modern flair.

Day 2“Green Escape” – A Day in Stanley Park

After a quick breakfast at the hotel, I rented a bike and headed to Stanley Park, Vancouver’s iconic urban park that stretches over 1,000 acres. Biking along the Seawall, with ocean views on one side and towering trees on the other, was an experience that’s hard to describe—refreshing and exhilarating all at once. I stopped at several viewpoints, including Brockton Point, where the city skyline looked breathtaking against the water.

Midway through the ride, I paused at Prospect Point for a coffee and a snack while soaking up views of Lions Gate Bridge. Later, I took a walk along the Lost Lagoon and explored the park’s lush trails, spotting wildlife and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. For lunch, I went to Stanley Park Pavilion, where I indulged in a delicious seafood chowder and salmon burger—perfect local flavors to match the scenic setting.

In the evening, I returned to the hotel to freshen up before heading to Granville Street for some nightlife. The clubs and bars here were buzzing, and I ended up at The Roxy, a legendary spot for live music. The vibe was energetic, and I couldn’t help but dance along with the crowd, making it a memorable night out.

Biking the Seawall in Stanley Park is a must-do, offering incredible views and a chance to immerse yourself in nature. Follow it up with a night on Granville Street for an exciting contrast of serene day and lively night.

Day 3“Market and Views” – Granville Island and Capilano Suspension Bridge

I kicked off day three with a trip to Granville Island, a local favorite for its public market and artisan shops. The Granville Island Public Market was packed with stalls selling everything from fresh produce to handcrafted goods. I sampled some delicious pastries, grabbed a coffee, and wandered around, watching artisans at work and picking up a few souvenirs. The island’s vibrant art studios and galleries make it feel like a small, creative community within the city.

After lunch at Edible Canada, where I tried the bison burger and truffle fries, I made my way to Capilano Suspension Bridge. Crossing the suspension bridge, with the canyon far below, was thrilling—especially with the dense forest surrounding me. The park’s Treetops Adventure and Cliffwalk offered more chances to enjoy the natural beauty from above, with views that felt almost surreal.

By the time I got back to downtown, I was ready to wind down. I found a cozy spot at the Alibi Room, a popular gastropub with an extensive selection of craft beers and a relaxed atmosphere. After an adventurous day, it was the perfect place to kick back and reflect on the city’s blend of modernity and nature.

The Great Ocean Road is a must-do if you’re in Melbourne—it’s an unforgettable journey of natural wonders. Be sure to set aside a full day and start early to make the most of it.

Day 4"Melbourne’s Flavors Unleashed" – A Foodie’s Dream Day

Melbourne’s food scene is legendary, so I dedicated today to exploring its culinary delights. I started with breakfast at Higher Ground, a stylish café housed in an old power station with high ceilings and chic décor. Their ricotta hotcakes topped with berries and whipped cream were heavenly, and I could see why this place is a local favorite.

Lunch took me to the Queen Victoria Market, a historic open-air market where you can find everything from fresh produce to artisan goods. I strolled through the food hall, sampling local cheeses, cured meats, and eventually settling on a classic bratwurst from a popular stall. The market’s energy was contagious, and it felt like a true taste of Melbourne’s multicultural flavors.

As night fell, I headed to Lygon Street, also known as Little Italy, for a pasta dinner at D.O.C Pizza & Mozzarella Bar. Their truffle pizza was a game-changer, and I topped it off with a creamy tiramisu that was the perfect end to a food-filled day. From morning till night, Melbourne’s flavors didn’t disappoint.

Melbourne is a paradise for food lovers, with options for every palate. Don’t miss Higher Ground for breakfast, and definitely try the markets for a taste of local life.

Day 5"Nightlights and Final Highlights" – Farewell to Melbourne

On my last day, I decided to explore the city’s nightlife and do some final sightseeing. I started with a relaxing morning at the Royal Botanic Gardens, a peaceful escape with beautifully landscaped grounds. From the lush Fern Gully to the serene Ornamental Lake, the gardens are the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on a fantastic trip.

In the evening, I dressed up and headed to Fitzroy, Melbourne’s trendiest suburb for nightlife. I kicked things off with cocktails at Naked for Satan, a rooftop bar offering sweeping views of the city and an eclectic vibe. The night continued at Section 8, a bar housed in an open-air shipping container, where the music was pumping and the crowd was lively.

To cap off the night, I stopped by the Crown Casino complex, where the city’s bright lights reflected off the Yarra River, creating a dazzling scene. The energy of Melbourne’s nightlife left me with lasting memories of this vibrant city.

Melbourne’s nightlife is as diverse as the city itself, with something for everyone. End your trip with a night out in Fitzroy for an unforgettable farewell to Melbourne.
