The hotel’s location was perfect, allowing easy access to many of Belgrade’s most iconic landmarks. The first stop on my list was Kalemegdan Fortress, a site that stands as a symbol of the city’s rich and turbulent history. Walking through the massive gates of this centuries-old fortress, I was immediately transported back in time, surrounded by ancient walls and impressive architecture. The views over the Sava and Danube rivers were absolutely breathtaking, especially as the sun began to set, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink.
Kalemegdan Park, which encircles the fortress, provided a peaceful retreat after the long journey. With its vast green spaces and tree-lined paths, it’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. The park’s serene atmosphere, combined with the gentle breeze from the rivers, made it an ideal place to unwind. Day 2History Meets Modernity – St. Sava Temple and Knez Mihailova
The second day began with a visit to one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, the St. Sava Temple. After spending some time in awe of the architecture, I hopped on a tram and made my way to Knez Mihailova Street, Belgrade’s main pedestrian boulevard. From there, I decided to explore Belgrade’s local life at Zeleni Venac Market, one of the city’s oldest and busiest markets. I tried a few Serbian snacks and chatted with local vendors, getting a real taste of Belgrade’s everyday life.
Lunch was at Lorenzo & Kakalamba, an eclectic restaurant offering a unique mix of Serbian and Italian dishes. The quirky decor and bold flavors made this meal a fun and memorable experience.
After a busy day, I spent the evening strolling along the Sava Promenade, enjoying the calm atmosphere by the water. This area has recently been developed and is perfect for a relaxed walk after dinner.

The highlight of the visit was climbing Gardos Tower, where the panoramic views of the Danube River and the surrounding old town were simply breathtaking.
I wandered through Zemun’s streets, stopping at Šaran, a well-known riverside restaurant, for lunch. The fresh river fish was a local specialty, and the meal was the perfect way to savor my last day in the city. I spent the rest of the afternoon by the river, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and reflecting on my time in Belgrade.
