Day 1Uncovering Olomouc’s Heart – History and Baroque Wonders
The moment I arrived in Olomouc, I could sense that this city was something special, a quieter but equally enchanting counterpart to Prague. I started my journey right in the heart of the city at Upper Square (Horní náměstí), where the stunning Holy Trinity Column immediately grabbed my attention. Standing tall at 35 meters, this baroque masterpiece is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and I couldn’t help but admire the intricate sculptures surrounding it. It’s an awe-inspiring monument to the city’s resilience after the plague.
From there, I took a short walk to St. Wenceslas Cathedral, a magnificent Gothic structure that towers over the city. The cathedral’s spires seemed to reach into the sky, and inside, the beautiful stained-glass windows filled the space with colored light. The peace and serenity within the cathedral contrasted with the hustle of the square, offering a perfect moment for reflection.
Lunch took me to a cozy spot called Moravská restaurace, where I indulged in a hearty plate of svíčková (marinated beef with creamy sauce and dumplings). If you’re going to dive into Czech cuisine, this is a must-try!
In the afternoon, I hopped on a tram to Bezručovy Sady, a lovely park that hugs the old city walls. I strolled along the paths, taking in the greenery and enjoying the views of the surrounding architecture. It was a great way to wind down after a morning of historical exploration.
Start your day in the main square to see Olomouc’s most iconic sites and take in the city’s atmosphere. Don’t miss trying svíčková—it’s a true taste of Czech culinary tradition.

Day 2Nature and Culture – From Scenic Views to Local Art
On the second day, I wanted to experience the natural beauty Olomouc has to offer, so I headed to Svatý Kopeček (Holy Hill), just a short bus ride from the city center. The views from the top are spectacular, especially of the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which stands proudly against the skyline. The basilica itself is a work of art, and stepping inside felt like walking into a quiet sanctuary far from the busy world below.
After soaking in the vistas, I couldn’t resist visiting the nearby Olomouc Zoo, which turned out to be an unexpected delight. The zoo is spread across a large area, offering plenty of space for the animals, and it’s great for families. I particularly loved seeing the giraffes, but what stood out the most was the zoo’s peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere.
In the afternoon, I switched gears and dove back into the city’s cultural scene at the Museum of Modern Art. The museum offers an impressive collection of Czech and international art, and wandering through the galleries was a nice contrast to the morning’s outdoor adventure.
Dinner was at Entrée Restaurant, a modern and upscale spot where I treated myself to a gourmet meal of locally sourced ingredients. The dishes were creative and full of flavor, a real culinary adventure.
Dinner at Entrée Restaurant was a culinary adventure, with beautifully presented dishes and innovative combinations of flavors. It’s more on the upscale side, but worth it for the unique dining experience. Breakfast earlier in the day was simpler but satisfying at a local bakery, where I had fresh bread and coffee.
Food
Again, Theresian Hotel & Spa provided the perfect base for a second night in Olomouc. I particularly appreciated the comfort and amenities, including the relaxing spa services that helped unwind after my time at Svatý Kopeček. The hotel’s attention to detail makes a difference.
Accomodation
Visiting Svatý Kopeček and its Basilica was the highlight of the day. The views were breathtaking, and the Olomouc Zoo added a fun twist to the experience, especially for nature lovers. In the afternoon, the Museum of Modern Art offered a refreshing cultural contrast.
Activity
Svatý Kopeček is an absolute must for nature lovers, and the views alone are worth the trip. If you’re into art, the Museum of Modern Art is a fantastic way to spend the afternoon, and it’s close enough to the city center to fit in after your outdoor exploration.

Day 3Local Markets, Hidden Gems, and a Night Out
For my final day in Olomouc, I decided to slow down a bit and immerse myself in the local culture. I started my day at the Olomouc Farmers Market in Lower Square (Dolní náměstí). The market is a vibrant place filled with local products, from fresh produce to handmade crafts. I picked up some Olomoucké tvarůžky (a traditional, pungent cheese) to take home, though I couldn’t resist tasting some on the spot. The market is also a great place to people-watch and get a sense of daily life in the city.
Next, I wandered through some of the quieter streets and discovered Terezská brána (Theresa’s Gate), a hidden gem often overlooked by visitors. This historical gate, built in the 18th century, is a small but beautiful remnant of the city’s fortifications. It’s amazing how much history can be found tucked away in the corners of Olomouc.
For lunch, I opted for something quick and casual at Café Restaurant Caesar, a popular spot near the main square. The bramboráky (Czech potato pancakes) were crispy and delicious, the perfect comfort food to fuel the rest of my day.
As the sun set, I knew it was time to explore Olomouc’s nightlife. I started at Varna Cocktail Bar, where I sipped on a craft cocktail in a laid-back atmosphere. To end the night, I ventured to Meex Club, a lively spot with great music and an energetic crowd. It was the perfect way to wrap up my time in Olomouc—dancing and celebrating in a city that blends history and modern life so well.

My final night at Theresian Hotel & Spa was as comfortable as the first two. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the room offered a peaceful escape after a long day exploring the city. The spa’s sauna was the cherry on top after a day filled with walking.
