Travel around Brisbane with Bobby
Day 1Life by the River – South Bank and City Center
As soon as I stepped into Brisbane, I felt the city’s vibrant energy. I started my day at South Bank Parklands, the heart of the city. Stretching along the Brisbane River, this area is filled with both natural beauty and cultural richness. As I walked among the stunning trees and exotic plants, the refreshing river breeze accompanied me. I also took some time to relax at the artificial beach of Streets Beach. Just nearby, the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) are must-see spots for art lovers, with GOMA’s modern art collection leaving quite an impression on me.
From South Bank, I walked towards the city center and hopped on the Brisbane Wheel for a panoramic view of the city and river. The breathtaking views from this giant Ferris wheel are something I won’t forget. For dinner, I recommend Eagle Street Pier, where riverside restaurants offer excellent seafood. I opted for Jellyfish Restaurant, known for its fresh seafood, and enjoyed a delicious barramundi – definitely a must-try!
A walk along South Bank and a meal at Eagle Street Pier are essentials in Brisbane. The city's lively center and the tranquility of South Bank offer a perfect balance.

Day 2Morning with Kangaroos, Evening with Culture – Lone Pine and Fortitude Valley
On the second day, I set off early to visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, one of the world’s oldest and largest koala care centers. Seeing koalas up close and spending time with kangaroos was a truly special Australian experience. Holding a koala for a photo was unforgettable, and feeding kangaroos made me feel connected with nature in a whole new way.
In the afternoon, I explored Brisbane’s alternative side by heading to Fortitude Valley, the city’s hub for alternative culture and nightlife. The area is full of art galleries, live music venues, and boutique stores showcasing local designers. For dinner, I chose Gerard’s Bistro, where the Middle Eastern-inspired dishes left a lasting impression. I ended the night at a local bar, enjoying live music and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.

Day 3 Moreton Island Adventure – Escape from the City
On the third day, I took a break from the city and ventured to the famous Moreton Island. A 75-minute ferry ride took me to this serene natural getaway. Moreton is one of the largest sand islands in the world, and there’s plenty to do here. I chose to snorkel around the Tangalooma Wrecks, a series of sunken ships that create a mesmerizing underwater landscape full of colorful fish and corals.
I also tried sandboarding on the island’s massive sand dunes – an exhilarating and adrenaline-filled activity! The day ended with a seafood feast on the beach, enjoying fresh produce and exotic fruits. Moreton Island is a memorable part of any Brisbane trip.
Dining by the sea on Moreton Island with fresh seafood and tropical fruits was delightful. The island’s natural setting enhanced the meal experience. However, the options were limited, and prices were somewhat high.

Day 4Art, History, and the City’s Dynamic Side – New Farm and West End
I dedicated my final day to exploring Brisbane’s more artistic and laid-back areas. I started the morning with a peaceful walk through New Farm Park. Inside the park, the Brisbane Powerhouse, a converted power station turned modern art center, caught my attention. I was lucky enough to catch a local art exhibition, which showcased some stunning contemporary works.
In the afternoon, I visited the bohemian neighborhood of West End, one of Brisbane’s most alternative and colorful districts. The streets are filled with boutique shops, street art, and a unique cultural vibe. For dinner, I stopped by The Gunshop Cafe, where I enjoyed a delicious, authentic meal. West End is a great spot for those looking for a more relaxed and artsy side of Brisbane.
The Gunshop Cafe in West End is a local favorite with a cozy atmosphere and a menu filled with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I had a delicious breakfast with poached eggs and sourdough, paired with great coffee. The flavors were spot on, though service could have been a bit quicker during the busy morning hours.
Food
